2026

• Engage the Vote Championship: Preparing Colleges and Universities for the 2026 Election Cycle
  • The California Secretary of State Students Vote Project (SVP) hosted a virtual pre-launch event for the new California University and College Engage the Vote Championship designed to increase college student participation in the June 2, 2026, Primary Election. The event featured a guest speaker from the California State Archives and a panel discussion with Long Beach City College. The SVP team also shared important election information.

2025

• SVP Quarterly Meeting (February)
  • The California Secretary of State Students Vote Project hosted our first quarterly meeting of 2025. Topics included 2024 highlights and 2025 program goals and resources.
• 2025 California University and College Ballot Bowl Virtual Awards Ceremony (March)
  • Shirley N. Weber Ph.D., California Secretary of State and the Students Vote Project hosted a virtual ceremony congratulating the winners of the 2024 Ballot Bowl competition. The Ballot Bowl is a friendly competition where higher education campuses compete to register the most students to vote and showcase civic engagement efforts.

2024

• California College Civic and Voter Empowerment Summit (October)
  • The California Secretary of State Students Vote Project (SVP) hosted the 2024 California College Civic and Voter Empowerment Virtual Summit where they provided important updates for the November 5, 2024 General Election. The SVP was also joined by civic engagement leaders across California and put together a virtual California state internship fair for college students.
• SVP Quarterly Meeting (June)
  • The California Secretary of State Students Vote Project hosted our Quarterly Meeting: Ballot Bowl Edition to address the new changes to the competition.
• SVP Quarterly Meeting (February)
  • The California Secretary of State Students Vote Project hosted our first quarterly meeting of 2024. Topics included 2023 highlights, the 2024 Presidential Primary Election information and 2024 programing and upcoming resources.

2023

• SVP Quarterly Meeting (October)
  • The California Secretary of State Students Vote Project hosted our final quarterly meeting of 2023. Topics included the Student Civic and Voter Empowerment Implementation Guide, Civic and Voter Empowerment Action Plan Guidelines, spotlight speakers from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge and the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement. 
• SVP Quarterly Meeting (July)
  • The California Secretary of State Students Vote Project hosted their second quarterly meeting. Topics included a website revamp, civic engagement training, effective outreach events and strategies, spotlight speakers from Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters and the University of California system. 
• California University and College Ballot Bowl Virtual Awards Ceremony (May)
  • Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., California Secretary of State and the Students Vote Project, honored the winning campuses of the 2022 California University and College Ballot Bowl.
• SVP Quarterly Meeting (March)
  • The California Secretary of State Students Vote Project hosted their first ever quarterly meeting. Topics included program updates and plans for 2023 regarding college student civic engagement.
