Pop-Up Shops

1. The document that requires an apostille. The document must be signed by a California public official or be an original notarized and/or certified document. A photocopy is not acceptable.
2. A completed Apostille Pop-Up Shop Request Cover Sheet (English) or Apostille Pop-Up Shop Request Cover Sheet (Español/Spanish). 
3. A fee of $20.00 per Apostille, plus an additional $6.00 Special Handling fee for each different public official’s signature to be authenticated, is required. Payment can be made by Visa, Mastercard, Check or Money Order. Checks or money orders must be made payable to Secretary of State. No Cash.

Due to the popularity of these events, wait times may be up to 2-3 hours.

Note: If you are unable to attend an Apostille Pop-Up Shop for any reason, you may send your document(s) with a friend, family member, neighbor, or anyone else that you trust. That person can submit the request on your behalf. The document(s) you wish to have apostilled must be present along with payment.

For example, Louise is Alfred's neighbor, and they are not related in any way. Alfred can remain at home while Louise takes Alfred's document to the Secretary of State's Apostille Pop-Up Shop and submits the request and payment on Alfred's behalf.

You may also mail your apostille request and payment to our Sacramento office for processing (instructions below).

1. A completed DP-1 (Declaration of Domestic Partnership) or DP-1A (Confidential Declaration of Domestic Partnership) form:​​​​​​
   • Original Signatures: The Declaration of Domestic Partnership must be signed by both partners, and the signatures must be original, wet signatures. Electronic, digital, or reproduced signatures are not accepted.
   • Completed Acknowledgment: An Acknowledgment of the signatures for both partners must be completed by a Notary Public and attached to the Declaration of Domestic Partnership after signing. Jurats or other instruments are not accepted.
2. A completed Domestic Partnership Request Cover Sheet.
3. A standard filing fee of $33.00 (if both partners are under 62) or $10.00 (if either partner is 62 or older), plus an additional $15.00 Special Handling fee is required. A $5.00 certified copy fee is optional. Payment can be made by Visa, Mastercard, Check or Money Order. Checks or money orders must be made payable to Secretary of State. No Cash.

​​​​If you are unable to attend a Pop-Up Shop event, your completed Declaration of Domestic Partnership form and attached Acknowledgment may be submitted by a friend, family member, or another authorized representative. This person may also receive copies, certificates, and other correspondence related to the filing on your behalf.

Confidential Declaration of Domestic Partnerships: It is recommended that one or both partners be present and bring a valid form of photo identification (e.g. Driver’s License or Passport). Copies, certificates, and other correspondence related to the Confidential Declaration of Domestic Partnership will only be returned to the partners upon verification of their identity. If neither partner can attend, and an authorized representative submits on their behalf, any copies, certificates, and other correspondence will be mailed to the partners at the mailing address provided on the Confidential Declaration of Domestic Partnership.
