Current Processing Dates

Update to Office Services and Closures due to the escalating conditions:

We have been notified by CalHR and the Governor's office that our Los Angeles office will remain closed today, Friday, June 5, 2020.

The Sacramento first floor lobby will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for drop-off only.

Note: Due to the recent closures and uncertain workload, 24-hour expedite/preclearance services will continue to be suspended until further notice. We will do our best to have this service resume as soon as possible, likely mid to late June. Certificates of Status will be processed on first in - first out as quickly as we can, but we can't guarantee a 24-hour turn around at this time.

Processing dates vary depending on the type of request submitted, how the request is submitted, and when the request is received by the California Secretary of State's office.

As significantly more requests are submitted at the end of the fiscal and calendar years, the processing time for all requests takes longer. If a faster response time is needed for a filing request, see Service Options for information about expediting a filing request.
