Corporate Records
Information Retrieval Online access to certain corporate information is available through the California Business Search. The information includes the complete name of the corporation, corporate number, date of incorporation or date of conversion, status, jurisdiction (place of domicile), mailing address, and name and address of the agent for service of process. If you require additional information, the following table identifies the type of corporate information available by ordering a Status Report or a copy of the last complete Statement of Information on file. Fees and instructions for requesting this information are included on the Business Entities Records Order Form.
For information regarding the offering and sale of securities (such as shares) in California, please contact the Department of Corporations. Information regarding owners and/or shareholders of a corporation, or the issuance of shares, is not made of record with the Secretary of State's office. Fictitious business names are not filed with the Secretary of State's office. Fictitious Business Name Statements are filed with the county where the principal place of business is located. To determine the applicable county agency where fictitious business names are filed, please refer to the list of California counties provided on the California State Association of Counties website. Certification/Reproduction Copies of corporate documents filed with the Secretary of State's office and various types of certificates can be obtained, over the counter, in the Sacramento office or by written request to the Sacramento office.
