California Secretary of State Alex Padilla Responds to President Trump’s Latest Lies on Election Fraud 

SACRAMENTO, CA – When asked about the evidence of electoral fraud in North Carolina’s Ninth Congressional District — which caused the North Carolina Board of Elections to call for the race to be run for a second time — President Trump immediately reverted to lies about massive voter fraud in California, Florida, and Texas.

“It’s important to note that what occurred in North Carolina was not voter fraud — it was electoral fraud carried out by political operatives. Sadly, Trump never misses an opportunity to try to prop up his lies and conspiracy theories about massive voter fraud. While these baseless accusations are nothing new, they are nonetheless dangerous as Trump undermines confidence in our elections and our democracy. His actions also disrespect the work and professionalism of countless elections officials and volunteers across the country.”

“In reality, what Trump dislikes about California elections is our policies and efforts to make it easier for eligible citizens to register to vote, cast their ballots, and to ensure that all properly cast ballots are counted. That’s the American way.
