California Secretary of State Alex Padilla Statement on Reported Trump Anti-Immigrant Comments
SACRAMENTO – It has been reported that President Trump made profane comments degrading immigrants from Caribbean, Central American, and African countries. Secretary of State Alex Padilla issued the following statement.
“The American story is one of immigration. As Secretary of State, I have had the honor of speaking at dozens of naturalization ceremonies throughout California. The patriotism, courage, and utmost belief in the American dream is evident in every new citizen, regardless of their country of origin.”
“Whether Mr. Trump likes it or not, our diversity helps make America great. It is what America is all about. And, if he can't come to understand this, he shouldn't be President.”
