Secretary of State Alex Padilla to Announce Major Upgrade to Online LLC Filing Options and Launch of New Business Resource Portal “Bizfile California”

SAN FRANCISCO – Secretary of State Alex Padilla will be joined by Bay Area business leaders to unveil two major digital initiatives to make doing business in California easier. Secretary Padilla will announce that for the first time ever, entrepreneurs can file online their Limited Liability Company, or LLC, Statements of Information. LLCs will have the option to file their Statements of Information online, including required statements which are due 90 days after registration and every 2 years thereafter during the month of registration. In 2016, 375,000 LLC Statements of Information were filed with the Secretary of State's office by mail or in person. This new e-file option will streamline the process and save the state and customers time and money. 

Secretary Padilla will also unveil Bizfile California, a new one-stop online portal to file, search, and order business records quickly and conveniently. 

These latest updates are part of Secretary of State Padilla’s Digital Initiative to modernize and digitize the agency’s divisions. In December, the Secretary launched California Business Search which now provides access to more than 10 million records related to corporations, limited liability companies and limited partnerships along with the ability to download PDF images of documents. To aid entrepreneurs, Secretary Padilla recently published a Starting a Business Checklist and Brochure.
