Supreme Court Ruling on DHS Voter Database Will Have No Impact on California’s 2026 General Election

Sacramento, Calif. – California's current election rules remain unchanged following today’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling, which allows the Trump Administration to proceed with expanding the federal SAVE database to determine voter eligibility. 

“This ruling does not affect California’s upcoming general election, and to be clear, we do not have any intention to use this concerning database,” said California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. “Make no mistake that the administration will continue their relentless attempt to undercut future elections to prioritize their own agenda, but California will not be participating in this charade.”
