California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., Urges Californians to Register and Make a Plan to Vote

Sacramento, Calif. – California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., today encouraged eligible Californians to register or update their registration and make a plan to vote in the June 2, 2026, Primary Election.

“Like we always do, California removes barriers so every eligible voter can be heard,” said Secretary Weber. “Take five minutes today to register or update your address—then make a plan to vote.”

California county elections officials mail every active registered voter a ballot. There are a variety of options for returning a voted ballot: dropping it off at a drop-off location or into any official county drop box within the state, returning it in person to any polling place or to the voter’s county elections official, or mailing the ballot to the voter’s county elections official. Voters can also vote in person at their polling location or at a vote center.

Eligible Californians can register to vote or update their voter registration online at: registertovote.ca.gov.

Voters who are unsure of their voter registration status can quickly check it online at: voterstatus.sos.ca.gov.

Voters can track their ballots using the Secretary of State's Where's My Ballot? tracking tool. Voters can visit wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov to sign up to receive automatic updates on the status of their mailed ballot.
