California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., Reminds Voters that Today Is the Last Day to Register Online to Vote in the 2026 General Election

Sacramento, Calif. – California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., is reminding voters that today—Monday, October 19, 2026—is the last day to register online to vote in the November 3, 2026, General Election.

“Online voter registration is quick and convenient through registertovote.ca.gov,” noted Secretary Weber. “The website is mobile-friendly and allows people to register or update their voter registration on a laptop, tablet, or smartphone."

Eligible Californians can register to vote or update their voter registration online through midnight tonight. Voters who are unsure of their voter registration status can check it online at https://voterstatus.sos.ca.gov.

Eligible voters who miss today’s online registration deadline will still have the option of utilizing “Same Day” or “Conditional” voter registration , but will have to do so in person at their county elections office or at any in-person voting location through election day. These voters will be asked to fill out a voter registration form and will be provided a ballot which will only be counted after their county elections office has completed the voter registration verification process.

Voters can find more information about voting options/locations specific to them at https://caearlyvoting.sos.ca.gov.
