Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Statement

Sacramento, Calif. – California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., issued the following statement about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day:

“Monday we will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a legacy that has been strong in perseverance and one we should never forget. Dr. King believed in the power of participation, the power of people to bring change, and the promise of equity and equality for all. His efforts, his dream, and his energy changed this nation and all of us forever. As California Secretary of State, I honor his legacy by working to ensure every Californian has a voice in our democracy.

On this Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, let us commit ourselves to Dr. King’s vision of equity, equality, and justice for all by registering to vote and voting in our local, state, and federal elections.
