California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., Honors the Late Great Civil Rights Leader Dolores Huerta

Sacramento, Calif. – California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., issued the following statement in honor of beloved civil rights icon and trailblazing labor leader Dolores Huerta who passed away today.

“Dolores Huerta was more than an icon to the world; she was a cherished friend whose life was devoted to the belief that we could build a better future together. I will always remember her for her vision, fierce determination, and lifelong commitment to fighting for the dignity and well-being of The People,” said California Secretary of State, Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. “Dolores understood that progress isn’t born from wishing for a better world, but from showing up, standing together, organizing, and making our voices heard at the ballot box, because the lives and futures of our communities depend on it. Her spirit will live on in every voice that rises in the name of justice, in every community that comes together to demand something better, and in every person who chooses courage over fear and hope over despair.”

¡Sí se puede! Because you never stopped believing in us, Dolores. And because of you, we will never stop believing in what we can accomplish together.
