California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., Announces that In-Person Vote Centers Will Open on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in 29 Counties

Sacramento, Calif. – California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., announced that vote centers will open for early in-person voting on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in 29 California counties. Vote centers are open ahead of Election Day to allow voters to vote in person, obtain a replacement ballot, register and vote the same day, or submit their completed vote-by-mail ballots.

These vote centers provide Californians the opportunity to vote in-person up to 10 days before Election Day, drop off completed vote-by-mail ballots, and take advantage of “Same Day” or “Conditional” voter registration.

“Think of Election Day as the last day to vote—not the only day. Like we always do, California gives voters more days and more ways to participate.” said Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. "Don't Delay! Vote today!"

Vote centers will begin to open 10 days before the election, with additional centers opening four days before, and continuing through Election Day. To find early vote center locations or official ballot drop boxes, voters can visit caearlyvoting.sos.ca.gov. The counties with early in-person voting are part of the California Voter's Choice Act, a state program that provides voters in specific counties the opportunity to vote at centralized locations throughout their county.

More than 3.6 million vote-by-mail ballots have already been returned. Ballot return statistics are available at https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/upcoming-elections/statewide-special-nov-4-2025

Eligible Californians who still need to register to vote can do so through Election Day via “Same Day” or “Conditional” Voter Registration https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voter-registration/same-day-reg.

Voting Options and Information

There are many options for voters to return their ballot. Voters can:

  • Drop of their ballot at a secure designated drop box, polling location, vote center, or county elections office.
  • Mail in their ballot. Ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day, November 4, 2025. If mailing a vote-by-mail ballot, it is recommended that voters mail their ballots early because some postal service locations may not postmark ballots/mail until the following day. If a voter mails their ballot on Election Day, the Office of the Secretary of State recommends that voters get a manual postmark from a postal employee inside their local United States Post Office.
  • Vote in-person.

The California Office of the Secretary of State’s website has a tool where a voter can type in their county and/or zip code, and the tool identifies that voter’s voting options caearlyvoting.sos.ca.gov/

Voters unsure of their registration status can check online at voterstatus.sos.ca.gov.

Voters can track their ballot by signing up at wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov to automatically receive text, email, or voice status alerts, including whether their ballot has been received, counted, or needs to be corrected before it can be counted.
