California Secretary of State Dr. Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. Announces Appointment of Deputy Secretary of State for Communications 

SACRAMENTO, CA – California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., announced the appointment of Jim Patrick of Sacramento as Deputy Secretary of State for Communications. In his new role, he will lead agency communications including media, social media, video, and graphic services. 

Patrick most recently served as Southern California Director of Communications and Outreach for the High Speed Rail Authority. A veteran of communications and outreach, Patrick’s experience also includes roles at the Sacramento Bee, the Portland Press Herald, and the Salt Lake Tribune. 

“I am confident Jim’s experience in public service and the media will serve the Office of the Secretary of State and our programs well,” noted Secretary Weber. 

Patrick earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota.
