Secretary of State Dr. Shirley N. Weber Appoints Reginald Fair Deputy Secretary of State for Operations
SACRAMENTO, CA – California Secretary of State Dr. Shirley N. Weber announced the appointment of Reginald “Reggie” Fair as Deputy Secretary of State for Operations. His appointment comes after the historic swearing in of Secretary Weber as California’s first Black Secretary of State on January 29, 2021.
“Reginald Fair is a dedicated public servant with an extensive career in the public sector,” Secretary of State Dr. Shirley N. Weber said. “Reggie brings with him a lengthy record of serving in the best interest of the people of California, and I look forward to the work we will be able to do together.”
Fair most recently served as chief of staff for State Senator Anna Caballero in the State Senate. Prior to his position with Senator Caballero, Fair served as Deputy Secretary for Legislative Affairs to Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agencies. From 2008 to 2013, Fair served in multiple positions at the office of former State Senator Curren D. Price, including deputy chief of staff and legislative director. He was chief executive officer and president at R. Fair and Associates from 1999 to 2008 and consultant for the Yes on Proposition 223 campaign in 1998. Fair served as managing partner at Dymally Earnest and Fair Inc. from 1992 to 1999, consultant for the No on Proposition 174 campaign in 1993 and campaign manager for Teresa Hughes for State Senate in 1992. He was principal consultant for the California State Assembly Education Committee from 1987 to 1992. Fair was an advance coordinator for Tom Bradley for Governor in 1985, management analyst at the City of Los Angeles Department of Aging from 1984 to 1987 and Southern California coordinator for the John Glenn Presidential Committee from 1983 to 1984.
A native of Sacramento, Fair graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Political Science.
