Secretary of State Alex Padilla to Address California YMCA Youth and Government Conference

SACRAMENTO, CA – California Secretary of State Alex Padilla will deliver the opening keynote address to an audience of more than 3,300 students at California YMCA’s Youth and Government Conference on Thursday, February 13 at 12:30 PM at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento. Secretary Padilla will discuss the importance of voting and the role young people can play in shaping the future through civic participation and engaging with their communities ahead of the 2020 Census.

California YMCA Youth & Government is a six-month program in which 9th-12th grade students statewide, role-play various positions of the California State Legislature and State Court systems. By joining local YMCA delegations, participating students have the opportunity to draft bills and prepare briefs about issues that most affect them. Delegates meet weekly as well as attending two statewide training conference leading up to the February conference in Sacramento.
