Secretary of State Alex Padilla and Attorney General Xavier Becerra to hold Tele-Press Conference Marking Twenty-Five Years Since Prop 187

SACRAMENTO, CA – Twenty-five years to the day that Californians voted on Proposition 187, Secretary of State Alex Padilla and Attorney General Xavier Becerra will hold a tele-press conference call at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2019 to share their personal reflections on the campaign and its lasting impact on California. Prop 187—which sought to bar undocumented immigrants from receiving any public benefits such as health care, education, and social services—passed 58.92% to 41.08% but was subsequently stopped in court.

Secretary Padilla will also discuss the launch of a new digital exhibit by the State Archives, “Looking Back at Proposition 187 Twenty-Five Years Later.”
