SACRAMENTO – With just five months until California’s Primary Election on June 5, 2018, here is a roundup of key election-related dates.

Candidate filing period

February 12 – March 9

Extended filing period if eligible incumbent does not file

March 10* – March 14

State Voter Information Guide on public display

February 20 – March 12

State Voter Information Guide mailing period

April 26 – May 15

Randomized alphabet drawing for candidate order on ballots

March 15

Certified list of candidates published

March 29

Military and overseas ballot mailing begins

April 6 – April 21**

Vote-By-Mail ballot mailing period

May 7 – May 29

15-Day Close of Registration

May 21***

Election Day

June 5

County elections officials process ballots, certify results            

June 5 – July 5

Secretary of State compiles results, certifies election
