California Secretary of State Padilla in Colorado to Observe Municipal Elections


SACRAMENTO – California Secretary of State Alex Padilla and a few key members of his staff are in Colorado for Monday May 4th and Tuesday May 5th to observe Colorado municipal elections first hand.  Colorado is considered a national leader in elections administration. Despite historically low turnout across the nation in 2014, Colorado had the third highest voter turnout in the nation.  Colorado innovations include early voting, vote centers in place of traditional polling locations, and mailing every registered voter in Colorado a ballot in advance of elections.

 

WHAT:                      Secretary Padilla in Colorado to view early voting and election day operations for municipal elections, meet with Colorado county and statewide election officials to discuss best practices, and observe the tabulation of votes. Secretary Padilla will be available for phone interviews while visiting Colorado.
