Notice of Judgment Lien

A judgment lien may be created against personal property when a judgment creditor (secured party) has gone to court and has been awarded a monetary judgment against a judgment debtor. A Notice of Judgment Lien must be submitted on a Form JL1 and received by the Secretary of State’s office within ten days of the notice date.

This Notice of Judgment Lien (Form JL1), must be reproduced in a format prescribed by the Secretary of State’s office, including printing on 8 1/2” x 11,” white paper.

Submittals that do not conform to the form specifications will be rejected.
