California Secretary of State Alex Padilla to Join State and Local Election Leaders on DEFCON Panel

LAS VEGAS, NV - California Secretary of State Alex Padilla will participate in DEFCON’s Voting Village panel “The Role of State and Local Election Administrators in Securing Elections” on Friday, August 9 from 2:30 p.m. -3:30 p.m. This is Secretary Padilla’s second year attending and speaking at DEFCON.

“State and local election officials are the first line of defense of our democracy,” said Secretary of State Alex Padilla. “By bringing together security experts and election officials, DEFCON provides a unique venue for discussion, collaboration, and innovation. The progress made at DEFCON to enhance security awareness and understanding serves to strengthen the security and integrity of our elections.”

Since its founding in 1993, DEFCON has become one of the world’s largest hacker conferences. Held annually in Las Vegas, the event attracts leading hackers, along with computer security professionals, journalists, lawyers, academics, and local, state and federal government leaders.
