Secretary of State Alex Padilla to Visit the University of Southern California for the Annual Girls Build Summit

LOS ANGELES - Secretary of State Alex Padilla will visit the University of Southern California (USC) for the Annual Girls Build Summit to close out September’s High School Voter Education Weeks.

The Girls Build Summit is an annual event hosted by the Los Angeles-based nonprofit, the LA Promise Fund, which is challenging young women in middle and high schools across the county to make an impact in their community through civic engagement. The event is featuring award-winning actress and television producer Shonda Rhimes, who is delivering the keynote address.

Secretary Padilla will participate in a panel with March for Our Lives Students Delaney Tarr and Kyrah Simon discussing the importance of young women becoming involved in politics and their role in shaping the future of our democracy. Crooked Media's Grace Parra will moderate.
