Secretary of State Alex Padilla to Visit Los Angeles Schools as part of Avanza Network’s Annual Conference 

LOS ANGELES – Secretary of State Alex Padilla will participate in The Avanza Network’s 6th annual student empowerment conference taking place this year in Los Angeles. As part of the conference, members of Avanza will visit thousands of students, parents, and local educators in at least 30 high schools in disadvantaged communities to encourage students to attend and succeed in college. Avanza is an organization comprised mainly of Latino Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) alumni across the United States. Secretary Padilla earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 1994. 

Members of the media are invited to attend Secretary Padilla’s visits with students at Canoga Park High School and San Fernando High School.
