California, Colorado, and Oregon Secretaries of State to Speak at Future of California Elections Conference

California Secretary of State Alex Padilla will join Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams and Oregon Secretary of State Jeanne P. Atkins to discuss modernizing voter registration on a panel at the tomorrow. Padilla will participate on a panel titled “Modernizing Elections: Strategies from California, Colorado, and Oregon.”

California, Colorado and Oregon are at the forefront of innovation in voter registration and election administration. In this panel, policymakers from these three states will discuss their challenges and lessons learned with developing and implementing new reforms around registering to vote and ballot options.

“California is on the verge of significantly modernizing the way we vote,” Secretary of State Padilla said. “As we implement New Motor Voter, we will systematically register to vote millions of eligible California citizens. And now we propose giving voters more choice of when, where, and how to cast a ballot. I’m excited about the FOCE 2016 conference, and look forward to discussing the future of elections with the Secretaries of State of Colorado and Oregon.”
