Students from more than 900 California schools will cast unofficial ballots for governor and the six statewide propositions in the 2014 MyVote California Student Mock Election.
Spearheaded by Secretary of State Debra Bowen and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson, the mock election program gives young people an opportunity to study a high-profile campaign season while preparing them to be life-long voters. The program also gives teachers the resources and materials to broaden their civics lessons.
October 28 (Some schools may vote earlier.)
Secretary Bowen will announce the statewide mock election results by the end of the week.
At more than 900 schools in nearly every California county. Go to www.sos.ca.gov/elections/studentmockelection.htm for a full list of participating schools.
