SACRAMENTO - California Secretary of State Debra Bowen today published the certified list of state candidates who will appear on the November 4, 2014, General Election ballot. The official list, with ballot designations and contact information for each candidate, is at www.sos.ca.gov/elections/statewide-elections/2014-general/general-certified-list.pdf.
In the June primary election, all candidates for a voter-nominated office were listed on the same ballot. Each voter selected any one candidate for the office, regardless of party preference. The top two candidates receiving the most votes in each contest advanced to the general election.
The Secretary of State's candidate list includes constitutional, legislative, congressional, Court of Appeals and Supreme Court candidates. County and city elections officials have candidate lists for more localized elections such as school board, city council and county superior court.
The last day to register to vote in the November 4 election is October 20. The last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot is October 28.
