I N F O R M A T I O N T E C H N O L O G Y The Information Technology Division supports the business requirements of the Secretary of State by planning, developing, implementing and maintaining innovative and effective business and information systems in active partnership with the Agency program divisions, vendors, and other agencies. ITD supports the remainder of the Agency which in turn serve a wide variety of external entities collectively referred to as stakeholders, including federal and state agencies, the state legislature, lobbyists, financial institutions, attorneys, county governments, media organizations, vendors, and the general public, among others. The division is composed of two sections: the Technology Support Services section and the Enterprise System Development & Support section. These two sections are subdivided into a number of functional units that have specific responsibilities in meeting the mission and goals of the Secretary of State. The Technology Support Services section consists of two units: the Office Automation & Help Desk Unit and the Data & Network Services Unit. The Office Automation & Help Desk unit is responsible for hardware and software technical support for our customers. This includes installation, configuration management, and maintenance of all desktop systems used throughout the agency. The Data & Network Services Unit plans, designs, monitors, and supports the Secretary of State's data and network architectures. This includes the enterprise data infrastructure, data and network servers, and operating systems. The Enterprise System Development & Support section consists of three units: the Internet Development unit, the Project Initiation & Mainframe Systems unit, and the Client Server Applications unit. The Internet Development unit is responsible for maximizing the use of Internet technologies within the agency. This includes web authoring tools, web site development, and defining web requirements for various application projects. The Project Initiation & Mainframe Systems unit is responsible for the requirements development of future projects and for the maintenance of legacy systems. The Client Server Applications unit is composed of application developers and project managers who are responsible for the development, delivery, and maintenance of all the agency's client server applications. The unit defines the application framework, structure, and tools required for successful program development. In addition, the staff members provide project management of the various client server applications. The Budgets and Office Administration unit is responsible processing invoices, managing personnel records, processing personnel transactions, and general office administration.
