California counties that use Mark-a-Vote:

Butte, Lake, Madera, Santa Cruz, Sonoma, and Sutter

STEP 1: Get your Ballot
  • Sign in at the polls.
  • You will receive your ballot card(s) and a secrecy holder to allow you to return your ballot in privacy.

STEP 2: Make Your Selections
 
  • Use only the pen provided by the poll worker to mark your ballot.
  • Mark the ballot by filling in the small rectangle next to each of your selections .
  • Vote only one ballot card at a time.
  • Remember to check both sides of the ballot.
  • Do not vote for more than the number of candidates to be elected for each office.
  • If you make a mistake, do not try to correct it. Return the ballot to a poll worker and request another ballot.

STEP 3: Cast Your Vote
  • After you have made your selections, check your ballot. Make sure the small rectangles are filled in completely.
  • When finished, place your ballot card(s), with the stub(s) attached, in the secrecy holder.
  • Return your ballot to the poll worker. The poll worker will tear off the stub(s) and return them to you and deposit your ballot in the ballot box.
