STUDENT MOCK ELECTION - 2006

Student Mock Election Results From November 2, 2006

In an effort to better educate our future leaders on the democratic process and to make them aware of the importance of voter participation, the Secretary of State and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction invited students to participate in the Student Mock Election held on October 24, 2006.

The students of California had the special opportunity to study and vote on candidates for US Senate, Governor and 13 state propositions that appeared on the November 7, 2006 general election ballot.

This program was open to all students in 7th through 12th grades and there was no cost to students or the schools to participate.

MATERIALS

  • The Secretary of State provided ballots, copies of the Easy Voter Guide and other materials to the participating schools.
  • Each school received "I Voted" stickers for everyone who voted in the Mock Election.
  • Each school received a number of posters that they were free to duplicate to get students interested in the Mock Election. Copies of those materials can be found by clicking on the following links: Ballot, Poster 1, Poster 2, Vote Here Poster.
