Secretary of State Padilla and LA County Registrar to Hold Press Conference on May 21 Voter Registration Deadline

LOS ANGELES – Midnight on May 21 is the deadline to register to vote in California’s June 5, 2018 Statewide Direct Primary election. California Secretary of State Alex Padilla and LA County Registrar Dean Logan will be holding a press conference to remind Californians that they can use the state’s online voter registration website—registertovote.ca.gov—to register or update their voter registration in a matter of minutes. Californians can also check their voter registration status using the Secretary of State’s My Voter Status tool at voterstatus.sos.ca.gov

As of April 6, 2018 there were 18,854,829 registered voters in California. This is an increase of 1,194,343 registered voters since the last Report of Registration at a similar point in a gubernatorial election cycle (April 4, 2014).

75.03% of eligible Californians are registered to vote. This is the highest percentage of eligible citizens registered to vote heading into a California Gubernatorial Primary in the past 64 years.
