Secretary of State Alex Padilla to Announce Partnership with the University of California at UC Regents Meeting

Secretary of State Alex Padilla will deliver a presentation to the University of California Regents at UCLA Meyer & Renee Luskin Conference Center tomorrow September 15, 2016. At this meeting, Secretary Padilla will discuss a new partnership with the UC system to increase student voter registration and turnout at all ten of its campuses across the state.

In 2014 only 8% of eligible youth aged 18-24 voted in the general election and only 52% of eligible youth were even registered to vote, which is more than 20 points below any other age group. With the support of the Lieutenant Governor’s office, CalPIRG, California Common Cause, and Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Asian Law Caucus as well as student organizations, this partnership plans to change this.

Media are welcome to cover this event.
