Still Haven't Registered to Vote?
Check it off Your List on National Voter Registration Day

SACRAMENTO - Secretary of State Debra Bowen is reminding Californians that September 24, 2013, is National Voter Registration Day, a perfect time to register to vote or check your voter registration.

"The first step in making sure you’re ready to take part in next year's statewide gubernatorial election is to register to vote and there is no better time to do it than on National Voter Registration Day," said Secretary of State Debra Bowen, California's chief elections official. "Now that the voter registration application can be submitted online, everyone can log on and take two minutes to check 'registering to vote' off their to-do list."

The state voter registration application is online at RegisterToVote.ca.gov and available on paper at many post offices, public libraries, California Department of Motor Vehicle offices, and other government offices. If you are not sure if you are registered to vote, you can find out at www.sos.ca.gov/elections/registration-status.

The Secretary of State is using her "Democracy at Work Project" to reach out to businesses, state and local governments, public libraries and nonprofit organizations to spread the word about voting. Using internal and external websites, newsletters and social media, participants such as the Ventura County Library, Sutter Health, Sempra Energy and City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center are reminding people of the importance of registering to vote

Since the online voter registration application was launched on September 19, 2012, more than 911,750 Californians have registered for the first time or updated their voter record using this online system.
